Celebrating 2023

Happy and Prosperous New Year!

2023 was a big success. I sometimes sit back and think about where I was a year ago, and I just smile. I didn't have a house, but a plan to build one. Today, I have a modern studio with a refrigerator and a gas/electric cooker. I also have WiFi.

I took my first flight to Cape Town to meet my friend Alex Epstein as I attended the African Energy Week conference. By the way, we did a great interview together!

I was featured in a climate documentary that's coming out early next year (a few hours away). Having videographers fly all the way from the United Kingdom to Kisii, Kenya, specifically to see Jusper, is a big thing! Oh, and you should see me beside big climate skeptics!

I had my first two Net Zero Interns fly all the way across the world with Jusper in mind. That was a great way to wind up the year!

My Twitter fan base has grown. I was interviewed by a couple of people on energy, but my favorite interview of the year was with my good friend and great podcaster, Tom Nelson. My work was retweeted by Jordan Peterson earlier this year. I have a couple of great people following me, including KimDotCom!

For the first time in my life, I slept in a jail cell. My crime was building a house for the orphans without bribing corrupt officers for approvals. And that brings me to my community projects.

I have impacted my community positively, thanks to you, and there is more to be done in the coming years. We got the poorest families connected to the grid (a money-hungry project that was) - more to be done in the next year, especially for those families that can't afford $300 to get cables, an electrician, and a meter.

We got my people a borehole. They have been fetching clean water by the road for free! They will pay for it as from next year during the January drought. The funds will be for paying the service provider and electricity. We have washed blankets/duvets for a couple of people for free and a couple of times dirty clothes, thanks to the laundry machine that was a borehole project supplement.

We got clean cooking for my people. We have over 50 needy families using our clean gas (LPG) cans. Most of the families are able to refill them from time to time for $8. The cans will cook breakfast, lunch, and supper for about 1½ months for a typical Kisii family.

We got university students shoes and paid for high school students’ school fees.

We built a needy neighbor a house, and you should see how neat the place looks. They recently bought a bull calf - which is a clear sign of flourishing!
